This “Music:” section will showcase songs primarily from Come&Live! musicianaries. I’ll highlight a song, its lyrics and discuss how it relates to my journey.
Take a listen to today’s song:
Your kindness waits with those gentle open arms
I want to be such a joy here in Your eyesTeach me how I can give up
All of these things I’ve built upCHORUS
Thank You for Patient love
You’ve waited all these years
I see You more clearly
Than I ever have beforeMy future rests in Your watchful tenderness
I want to live to make You my one delight
You won’t let me go
You amaze me everydayTeach me how I can give up
All of these things I’ve built up
You give me greater meaning
Than all the things I’ve been dreamingWords and Music by Andrew and Jen Polfer

“Patience” is THE theme song that transcends both my revived faith and the formation of Come&Live!
God has been patient as I struggled with doubts and distractions over the years. He was there when the wall was built around my heart, and He was there to greet me when it was torn down. He’s teaching me everyday “how I can give up all the things I’ve built up.”
Similarly, my wife Rachel has been waiting patiently for me over these past eight years. She always respected my private faith, but has been ever-willing to support me in the rare instance I opened up. As I’ve striven to find God more over these past months she has been willing to try out new churches, pray with me and even let me keep the bedside light on at night to read the Bible (and she sincerely hates any lights on at bedtime, haha). Rachel – “Thank You for Patient love | You’ve waited all these years | I see You more clearly | Than I ever have before”
Come&Live! was founded by Chad Johnson who, in the most literal form, decided to “give up all the things (he’s) built up” to serve the kingdom of God through music. He gave up a lucrative job and lifestyle, moved across the country and started C&L! not knowing how he was going to pay the bills or financially support his family. Chad has been fully reliant on God’s tenderness for 14+ months now and has been more amazed by Him than ever before.
Chad, Lovelite and myself have been blessed with God’s patience. It’s now time for us to be patient with God’s promise and plan for our lives. God has brought us together as a community to take joy in this time of waiting and worship.
About the Band
“Lovelite hopes to bring authentic and passionate music as well as an opportunity to put faith into action.” – lovelitemusic.com
One of the first C&L! musicianaries that I really latched onto, Lovelite holds a special place in my heart. Andrew Polfer (guitar/vocal) has a rich, soothing voice similar to that of Tom Chaplin of Keane and Jen Polfer’s (guitar/vocal) voice has been likened to Feist. Those are lofty comparisons, but the combination of the two doesn’t disappoint. Add guitar riffs echoing that of Keane, Coldplay and The Fratellis and the result is simultaneously soothing and powerful.
Lovelite offers their music to use freely in your worship/church. Chords and lyrics to their songs are available via their website, under resources. Andrew even gives a lesson on how to play “There You Are” in this video!
Thank you for the awesome gift Lovelite!
